Touch that butt.

          I stumbled upon this gem on Pinterest, and it had to be shared. For those you who are a little confused, in one of my favourite Disney movies, Finding Nemo, Nemo the fish- you know what, just watch this and it'll make more sense.
         Fear is an important part of life, but where we draw the line about how far it controls our actions is what matters. Fear can close doors even before we have a chance to see what is on the other side. Have the sense to know when something is downright dangerous or irresponsible but have the courage to know when to push yourself to 'touch the butt'!
     Now get off your butts and touch that butt!!

At Home Pottery.

         As you all probably know from THIS POST, I did some pottery last week. I’ve dabbled in pottery since I was about 10, and it is definitely one of my favourite artsy things to do. I find it extremely therapeutic- there is something about playing with a ball of clay and being able to produce a masterpiece(or in my case something that vaguely resembles a bowl) that is very relaxing.
        Last week my friend, her sister and I decided to put our creative hats on and do some at home pottery. PS: we got our inspiration from THIS lovely post. After an interesting trip to an art/haberdashery store (we spent a good twenty minutes getting excited over how pretty yet cheap lace is), we headed on back home to get started. Now this is an at home type of project because we used air dry clay (but be warned, it takes a good 24 hours to dry, so do not think it will dry in time to take to your friend's birthday party that same night like we did!!).

For this glamorous DIY, you will need:

* Clay( the air dry type or the oven bake type)
* Strips of lace
*Rolling pins
*Knife
*Bowls of different sizes

        Honestly, finding all the bits and bobs is the hardest part, once you have everything it's pretty straightforward. Just roll out your clay depending on how big you want your bowl (I forgot to mention earlier that we were making bowls).

Use the bowl as a template to cut out a circle.

 Next  place your lace strips on your clay, and using the rolling pin, press the lace into the clay to create an imprint and then pull back the lace.

  Take your pretty circle of clay and place it in a bowl to let it set-the bowl acts as a mould so that the clay bowl has a rounded bottom.

         Let it dry in the bowl for 24 hours and TADA, you are left with a beautiful bowl-or many in our case!

        With the leftover clay, we fashioned a man. Meet Elvis. Elvis enjoys romantic dinners, long walks along
the beach and wearing snapbacks.

      Till next time...

The Lost and Found Market.

I once was lost but now am found- Amazing Grace

              The Lost and Found Market is a treasure trove of 70s style dinner sets, hawaiian shirts, old, musty books and other random bits and bobs. Although I did get lost trying to find it, once I did, it was well worth the hike!  Once I walked in I honestly felt like I was in a museum of vintage junk, or a hoarder's closet!
              I really believe that 'Old is Gold', because things made in the 70s and 80s and 90s, were built to last-this is what i've found from personal experience. This market proves that, I doubt some of my favourite cups and saucers will look that great in another 40 years! I can't wait to have my own to place so that I can furnish it with all these cute, quirky and durable pieces.
             My favourite find was this hippopotamus toothbrush holder-so strange yet so cute! Sadly I couldn't find the seller but hopefully it's still there when I go next time-fingers (and toes) crossed!!

                  I also found this very cute apron with a baked goods pattern on it. All these pieces have stories behind them and they are waiting for you to create a new one. I can just imagine a chic mother, pottering around the kitchen, baking her family fabulous cakes! I could be wrong, but it's your own story to create:)

                I also found these Japanese sandals and Swedish clogs hidden amongst a bunch of other things. All these pieces are just so random and haphazardly placed, it's like a treasure hunt, only you don't know what the treasure is until you actually find it!

                    I love exploring markets because you can always find something so unique but which accurately represents you. I know this sounds extremely airy-fairy but it's true. Second hand treasures are worth more than store bought pieces in my books!

Lunchtime wandering.

             With the first round of assignments done, i'm mentally exhausted. My cure- walks around the city. I'm so glad my University is just a stones throw away from the main shopping district in the city -although my bank balance isn't! The other day, I decided to go and check out the new H&M store during a lunch break as a little treat for finishing my assignments. Unfortunately there was a HUGE queue, it was raining and long story short, I didn't end up going. Instead, I just walked around the Royal Arcade on Bourke Street. I didn't buy anything, but it was relaxing to walk around, take a few photos and not have anything to do or anywhere to be for two hours. I thought i'd share a few photos that I took.

Milimal's Hunger Bars.

         I know i'm not alone on this one, we all have that moment when we are really hungry but feel pressurised by society to eat something healthy. Only problem is, healthy things take too long to make or are super expensive or involve ingredients you don't really find in the average person's pantry. Now i'm here to help you, provide you with a little something that will not only curb those sugar cravings but are also healthy (or at least I think they are) AND super easy to make. I present to you the 'Milimal Hunger Bar'(trademark pending) otherwise known as the common granola bar- but much better, I promise.
         Not only are these super easy to make, they also taste so great you'll never realise how (relatively) healthy they are for you! Plus you can feel proud of yourself for making something so delicious and addictive.

Ingredients

* 1 Cup Rolled Oats
* 1 Cup Rice Bubbles
You can substitute the Oats and Rice Bubbles for other cereal ingredients such as Nutrigrain, Bran, Cornflakes, or your favourite cereal - Just depends on how healthy you want it.
* 1/2 Cup Chopped Nuts
I used almonds, but you could use pistachios, walnuts, macadamia nuts, etc.
* 1/2 Cup Chopped Dried Fruit
You could use walnuts, dried cranberries, dried fig-THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!!
* 1/2 Cup Dark Chocolate Chips
This is where you can get creative, add whatever you want really- marshmallows, caramel bits, sunflower seeds, etc-Once again it depends on how healthy you want it to be.
* 2 1/2 Tablespoons of Butter
* 2 1/2 Tablespoons of Honey
*2 1/2 Tablespoons of Brown Sugar

Method

Step One:
Mix together all your dry ingredients i.e. the oats, rice bubbles, nuts, dried fruit and chocolate, in a  large bowl.

Step Two:
In a saucepan, place your butter, sugar and honey and bring to a boil and leave to bubble and caramelise for two minute (try not mixing it with a spoon, just swirl the pan around to prevent it burning at the bottom).

Step Three:
Pour the caramel concoction into the bowl with the dry ingredients and mix together. Make sure it is mixed together throughly.
Step Four:
Press the mixture into a lined tin , using the back of a small ball to ensure it's all tightly packed in and refrigerate for at least half an hour.
Step Five:
Cut into pieces and enjoy!

         See, I told you it wasn't too hard to make (although waiting for it to cool down is kinda hard!). They honestly taste too good to be good for you but considering the lack of preservatives and the tonne of healthy ingredients, they are definitely better than the store bought kind...or salt and vinegar chips!

Post-concert Blues.

                Last Saturday night I got to see my favourite band, Kodaline, play at the Prince bandroom in Melbourne. OMG, they were amazing! With that fan-girling moment over with, I give you the pictures from that night. Sadly, I was too lazy to lug around my (relatively) heavy camera, so I took them on my phone and the quality isn't that great!

             It's really weird seeing people you listen to and watch on Youtube, pretty much everyday, in the flesh*- surely i'm not the only one who thinks this! I've loved their music since last year and it was great to see them live-they didn't disappoint! Currently, i'm suffering from a serious case of post-concert blues and i've been listening to this on repeat.

Till next time...

* Weird side note- they were so much taller than I expected them to be!!
